“Your wish is my command” by Rev. Greg Harte.
We at the Hollywood Center for Positive Living remember Emerson's immortal, "Where there is no vision, the people perish." He was quoting proverbs.
Now is the time to be setting our sails in a new direction. When we are carrying around dead wood, it becomes tough to move forward with joy and ease. Some of us in 2007 will embrace the new moments and expand and thrive, while others will hold onto old ideas that thwart forward movement and progress. In our spiritual philosophy, we seek to trade in lesser ideas for greater. Change is a constant, thank God, so we go with the flow and are open and receptive to life and the miraculous lessons it presents us.
Each of us have something precious inside. Yet we neglect what is precious and even deny it. Many of us have bought into ideas of failure and bad luck. We embrace doom and gloom and have forgotten that we experience the world through our own eyes. It is not the world that needs to be changed as much as our perception of the world. We carry around a lot of ideas, beliefs that no longer serve us. For those of us enlightened enough to know how important we are in the scheme of things, we say "thank you" for what we know and the contribution our knowing is making to the world. Our awareness is creating a new order. It doesn't matter what we each do in our respective jobs or professions. It does matter that we realize that WE are connected and important to the process of life. Whatever we do is important. We are IMPORTANT. We may have made mistakes. So what? (If what we have done is sinful, we are in good company!)
We may think that we have sinned, and what we have done is not forgivable, not OK, or not enough. We may be carrying around a lot of guilt about this, too. None of this is helpful. It is time for a new realization and a new self-dialogue. Know that there is something precious inside us. The word "sin" comes from an ancient language and means "missed the mark." So maybe we have missed the mark in some ways. We each can decide. Maybe we are right on track, right where we are supposed to be. Did we ever stop to think that every so-called mistake may have been necessary to become the knowledgeable beings we are now?
People we run into seem to be focused on the immediate challenges of the day. It might be their health, finances, love life or ups and downs of the real estate market. Sometime we show up being needy, other times it seems that we are fueled with greed and our sense of survival kicks in. Many of us don't feel as if we are enough, have enough, or do enough. We either have forgotten or don't know our worth. We don't know there is something so precious inside. We can decide to thrive and make new decisions.
Many of us fear the worst and live limited lives or lives of quiet desperation when we could be soaring and experiencing the omnipresent goodness. We habitually accept much less than we deserve because we do not realize we deserve much more! What we don't realize yet is that we act as a magnet to whatever we are emanating. Remember that there is something incredible inside each of us.
With this gift of awareness, let’s allow ourselves to really see differently. We are the lights in the darkness and the leaders of today. When we set our sights high, when we have vision and are able to see and stay focused on all that is good and noble, our vision and commitment will lead us forward. Not everyone can yet do this, but those who can see it a different way, must. And the strong shall bear the infirmities of the weak. Life is going forward with or without our permission. There is a corrective principle always at play righting wrong conditions in us and in the world. There is a new order dawning. There is something precious inside each one of us. If we know this and can listen to its call, it will take us to great places!
